The book I am reviewing is called 1984 by George Orwell (some of you may have read it). It was written in 1948 and surprisingly, there are many parallels to today's world including how people do not realise that they’re being controlled and brainwashed. In fact, the ideas from this book are still quoted by many political commentators to this day.

The book is mainly focused on the main character, Winston, who works at the Ministry of Truth (or in Newspeak, “Minitrue”) where he works to erase enemies of the Party from history. This world is split up by three superpowers, Oceania which is where Winston lives, Eurasia which is the Soviet Union's successor and Eastasia. Tragically, as the story unfolds, Winston slowly realises that he is a victim of the dystopian nightmare he is in.
