For almost two months, Year 12 NBS Students have been united to create one of Newton’s masterpieces which can be called Newton Business School’s first Drama on Stage. It marked the beginning of the era of this school which will allow future generations to inherit good examples of success, teamwork, and experience.

What I want to share with everyone is the value of what we, the NBS students, have done for the NBS Drama on Stage. The Mission Impossible was a miracle, a moment that many people will never forget, that has to be exchanged with tiredness, sacrifice, patience, tears, disappointment, pressure, and much more. When we NBS students heard about the project and that it was going to be The Merchant of Venice by William Shakespeare, for our Work Experience subject, the students had to be separated into two groups, which was the Marketing and Production team.

I could see the stress on everyone's faces. We didn’t expect that we had to do everything in the show by ourselves, even the role of acting. But what we were more surprised about was the timeframe that school provided us. Only one and a half months, such a short time isn’t it? In one and a half months we have to finish the entire thing: promoting the show, looking for sponsors, running rehearsals and managing technical teams, looking for the costumes and makeup, learning the working style of Shakespearean Theatre, and working together with all teams.

To be honest, the first two weeks of the operation were a disaster, every team struggled with work that they didn't know how to do, or the leaders didn't know how to operate the team members. But with the help of the Executives and Supervisors on both teams, everyone saw the way clearer than before, and they guided the students step by step to make the workflow more smoother.

However, we cannotcan’toverlook the production team which is the heart of the show, especially the acting team who would be the face of all NBS students, but also the team that had the most problems. What happened in the acting team? They had to face the problem of the lack of actors and had to find people to fill the role. Finally, both Year 11 and 12 NBS (Allky, Boom, Diar, and Ninja) volunteered to be the actors and actresses.

However, there was also a problem where almost everyone couldn't remember their own dialogs. And there was a feeling of burnout that not just happened within the acting team but lingered in every team in this entire operation (marketing team and production team). There was also a little conflict between team members.

How did they solve the problems and make the show successful? We had help from K’Joob and his team to help us during rehearsal. Also, everyone in the team went back to their sense of duty and united again to make the thing happen. Furthermore, K’Joob also brought the supporting actors to make the show more lively.

As a Director and Actor, I also have to give a huge thanks to Ananya, Head of production, Director, and also the scriptwriter who solved and changed everything shrewdly and made the show go better than everyone’s expectations. This was all about teamwork and not giving up even at the worst moment.

Meanwhile the marketing team also struggled with financial problems about selling tickets and the lack of sponsorships, but thank god that everything was resolved right in time. With the effort of the team and the helping of the parents and supervisors, the crisis of losses turned into profits.

Furthermore, on the day of the show, we still had a problem with the acting team: the urgent absence of the main character in one scene, which was a serious issue. However, with the brave heart of one member of K’Joob’s team, P’Micky, volunteered himself to replace that role and had a splendid performance and impressed everyone.

All of these things show us everyone’s unity and teamwork: members of the NBS & Newton Group Family that help each other no matter what the situation was. That reminds me of something in my head: the motto that says “UNITA FORTIOR” in Latin, translated to English: “In Unity is Strength”.
